During out day-trip to San Diego last week, I actually did shoot something with my SLR *gasp* with the intention of stitching it into a panoramic photo. The results are above, of PETCO Park in San Diego, CA.

I retrospect, I wish I was a bit closer to eliminate the back of some of the stands, but overall, the lighting, stitching, composition, and post-processing came together to make a great image of a beautiful park.

I seem to have an big interest in panoramic photographs. I should pursue this more.

San Diego

We made a day trip to San Diego yesterday to see the San Diego Zoo, and then traveled to see PETCO Park and had dinner in the area. The zoo was nice to see. It was a zoo, but HUGE! And their downtown area was extremely nice, clean, and an overall great atmosphere (that just isn’t quite there in Jacksonville).

So the photo of this post represents that feel in the downtown area. What amazed me about PETCO Park was that they had a small park BEHIND the field that was open to the public during the day. That means we’re able to walk right up to the right-field wall and take the photos (panorama in the works…). The park had a green lawn, a mini baseball field, and of course a Tony Gwynn statue.

After all, the street was named after him:

“Take the Five South”

I just drove from Covina to San Diego and back in a day. Man, that was tiring, especially after the 5 hours of walking at the zoo, and going up and down and up and down the Gaslamp District and seeing PETCO Park.

California driving is something else. On top of that, California freeway driving can be damn scary, especially when you’re tired and have sore eyes. I’ve been driving so carefully and defensively for the past 2+ hours, riding the carpool lane 36 inches from a roadblock on my left and five lanes of traffic on my right.
