Two great friends of mine, John Zank and Elizabeth Alters, had their baby boy early Thursday morning, September 22nd, 2011. His name is Roland Clyde Zank. Thus, I just had to take some newborn photos of him to help commemorate. John is the first of our group of friends from high school (and junior high!) to have a baby, so this is a milestone not just for him, but for all of us.
Elizabeth sat down and wrote out her birth story, and I’ll let her share it as she had a closer encounter than I did (I love the video with Elizabeth’s older son Joshua as well; he’s adorable). As I was sitting on my computer doing various things (photos, gaming, etc), I followed John’s post on facebook saying, “This might be it!” and finally received a photo via text announcing his birth to everyone.
We did this photo shoot the Sunday following Roland’s birth, so he’s only three days old here. I’m not much into shooting babies, but since this was something I really wanted to do for them, I did my research. I looked into different photographers and found many things I liked, and a lot that I didn’t. (Just like I did for Elizabeth’s maternity shoot.) So, with a white bed spread and a white wall, I did some simple, sharp portraits of the little booger. They’re clean and sharp, which tends to be the style I like to shoot.
Everyone’s excited for them and the start of their family together.
