If there’s anything I’ve learned over the course of working with Elizabeth, John and Roland is the bond that is created between a couple with a newborn, and the bonding of the new family. People tell you it happens, but until you witness it from start to finish, it’s not appreciated or understood. I suppose I won’t fully grasp its importance until it finally happens to me, but until then, this is probably the closest I’ll come.
In hindsight, I’m glad I took this project on for two important reasons. The first is the photos that I’ve taken for a portfolio. We have some really great, simple photographs that we both love and I’ve been able to try some different things at liberty. The second, and initially the primary reason why I wanted to do this, was the importance these mean to my John and Elizabeth. I’ve known John since I’ve moved to Florida and has been a best friend growing up; and Elizabeth has quickly absorbed herself into our group of friends and become loved by all of us.
This photograph took the most foresight and collaboration among the two of us. Eventually, we got it.
Soon, we’ll get to see what Roland’s like when he turns sixteen.
